On Wednesday, April 2, 2014, Governor Chris Christie announced a program enabling police officers in Monmouth and Ocean Counties to administer an emergency treatment to individuals who have overdosed on heroin. First responders can now carry the drug Naloxone, or Narcan with them and potentially save lives.
Due to the worsening heroin epidemic New Jersey has been facing, the Governor took this opportunity to call on leadership within the addiction prevention, treatment, and law enforcement communities to weigh in. High Focus Centers was grateful to have been asked to take part. Director of Clinical Services, Dr. Tom Fowler sat with Governor Christie, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccione, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato, and representatives of New Hope and Prevention Links to discuss the issues.
