Worried About Your Child? Start Here!
Sometimes parents must ask questions or reach out for help in order to ensure the health of their child. Your close relationship and proximity to your child gives you a unique insight into their mental health and, as a parent, it’s important to trust your instincts when they tell you that changes in your child’s mood or behavior are more than just a phase.
If you have realized that your teen may be suffering from depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues, you need to know where to turn. The mental health system can confuse or overwhelm people looking for help, but High Focus Centers can assist you in gaining familiarity with available resources and learning how to access them.
If you have concerns about your child’s mental health, we recommend that you:
- Identify your specific concerns
- Gather as much information as possible about your child’s mood or behavior changes
- Contact a High Focus Centers intake specialist at (800) 877-3628 to help you and your family member identify the level of care that they need
Now I know where to go, but HOW do I get there?
If you have insurance, we recommend first contacting your insurance company to find out what benefits you have. Almost all plans have outpatient coverage, as well as coverage for inpatient hospitalizations. However, not all coverage packages have IOP or PCP benefits. If you have the corresponding benefit for the appropriate level of care, then ask your insurance company for a list of in-network providers that meet that level of care. High Focus Centers is an in-network provider for most major insurance carriers. Click here for a list of insurance providers that we commonly work with.
If you do not have insurance, most counties and states provide services to adolescents through county and state programs. In New Jersey, the provider of these services is Perform Care, and the best way to get help for the uninsured is to contact them directly. Click here for Perform Care’s contact information.
Following your communication with your insurance provider, we recommend you call and ask our High Focus Centers admissions specialists any questions about the programs or therapists; the types of services rendered; and how initial appointments are scheduled. You, as the consumer, have a right to make sure that our programs will meet your needs, so don’t be afraid to ask questions!
If you’re interested in receiving mental health care from High Focus Centers at that point, we can begin our comprehensive admissions process, including the scheduling of an initial appointment.
Anyone interested in receiving care at High Focus Centers must complete this initial appointment, where you and your loved one will meet with a professional assessment specialist who can explain our available programs in detail and assist you in filling out any paperwork. The assessment itself typically takes 1.5-2.5 hours, and allows us to find the program and level of care that is the best fit each individual client. All adolescent clients must have a legal guardian accompany them at their initial appointment. Click here to read more about our admissions process.
Following the assessment, we can place your loved one into the appropriate program and they can begin treatment as soon as possible. To learn more about the types of treatment programs available at High Focus Centers for teens, click here.
